San Francisco, CA 94109

Summary of the Property

The Caldrake Hotel was built after the Great 1906 San Francisco earthquake for the purpose of housing people who had lost their homes in the disaster. Today, The Caldrake Hotel still serves its purpose by providing housing for those who need it. Acquired by THC in October of 2001, the Caldrake provides 50 units of permanent supportive housing for formerly homeless single adults.

Property Details

The Caldrake Hotel is one of THC’s four “Step Up” residences. “Step Up” buildings are intended for tenants who have previously lived in a Housing First funded unit and who have demonstrated an ability to live successfully with minimal staff and support services. Despite being a “Step Up” building, there are still Property Management and Support Services staff on site. The Property Management team ensures the building is safe, clean and functional by performing monthly inspections and maintenance and janitorial tasks. The Support Services team hosts events for tenants such as coffee hours and bingo nights. Tenants can also reach out to staff for assistance with employment and finding medical services.

Community Details

The Caldrake Hotel is located in the Upper Tenderloin and Lower Nob Hill area, known to area realtors as the “Tendernob”. The Caldrake Hotel is walking distance to some of San Francisco’s best restaurants.
