Garland Hotel

The Garland Hotel was built in 1913 and is listed in the National Register of Historic Places as part of the Uptown Tenderloin Historic District. The Garland offers 80 units of permanent supportive housing to formerly homeless adults referred to THC through San Francisco’s Coordinated Entry system. Acquired and opened by THC in early 2022, the first residents at the Garland were those transferring from the Baldwin Hotel during its transition from THC-operated permanent supportive housing to a Safe Navigation Center.

The Garland is the first of its kind for THC’s SRO buildings in that every resident has a private bathroom as well as an in-unit kitchenette. In addition, residents have access to on-site laundry facilities, a community room, and a shared kitchen. On-site Property Management and Case Management staff support tenants with building services and connection to resources.
