Abigail Hotel
The Abigail Hotel first opened in 1925. In the 1980’s, THC helped organize Abigail tenants to fight for the preservation of the hotel’s residential status. Forty years later, in 2020, THC returned to the Abigail to prepare the building to operate as permanent supportive housing. After briefly serving as a Shelter in Place hotel during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Abigail officially welcomed THC tenants in October 2021.
The 61-unit Abigail Hotel offers all tenants private bathrooms, use of community spaces, on-site laundry, kitchen facilities, and free Wi-Fi . Tenants are identified through the Housing Ladder program which offers current permanent supportive housing residents the opportunity to move into more independent living environments, thereby freeing up units for currently homeless individuals who may need more intensive support services. Abigail tenants receive support from a Multi-site Property Manager, Case Manager, and on-site Resident Manager.
