Dear Mr. Vlazakis:
As you recall, I informed you a few weeks ago about illegal drug activity at the Maryland Market. I told you that the owners of the market had not responded to my request for a meeting, and that my clients–the 500-member North of Market Planning Coalition and neighborhood property owners–were prepared to file a lawsuit against the market to force it to cease its illegal activities. You informed me that you would notify the market’s attorney and get back to me in a couple of weeks.
I have still not been contacted by anyone associated with the market; nor have I heard from you. In the meantime, a community-wide march was held, led by the Reverend Cecil Williams. A prime target of the march was “markets” who are profiting from illegal activity and the sale of fortified wine. Pressure is building for prompt action against the Maryland Market, and while I wish that legal action and a community boycott of the market could be avoided, the lack of response from you and the market owners has left us with no alternative but to seek such redress.
If you are willing to work to resolve this issue, I must hear from you by the end of next week.
Very truly yours,
Randall M. Shaw
