Tenderloin Housing Clinic and City Housing, Inc. History of Masterleasing
March 1999 – City Housing Inc. organized in cooperation with Tenderloin Housing Clinic to begin managing hotels that THC will master lease.
May 1999 – Tenderloin Housing Clinic and City Housing Inc. begin leasing and managing the first masterleased hotel, the Seneca.
September 1999 – The City announces the closure of Mission Rock Shelter. Mayor Willie Brown’s Office of Housing approaches Tenderloin Housing Clinic and City Housing to master lease and manage the Jefferson Hotel and the Mission Hotel.
October 1999 – Tenderloin Housing Clinic and City Housing begin leasing and managing the Jefferson Hotel and the Mission Hotel
May 2000 – Tenderloin Housing Clinic and City Housing begin leasing and managing the Vincent Hotel in the Tenderloin.
September 2000 – Tenderloin Housing Clinic and City Housing begin leasing and managing the newly restored Hartland Hotel. One hundred and thirty-seven burned out units are brought back on-line for San Francisco’s low-income tenants.
August 2002 – Tenderloin Housing Clinic and City Housing begin leasing and managing 875 Post Street, located in Lower Nob Hill. 875 Post Street is renamed the Looper Residence, named for Leroy Looper, a Tenderloin neighborhood activist and property owner.
