Tenants victorious: Delta Hotel adopts Sixth Street Tenants Alliance proposal to change guest policy
-VISITOR HOURS EXTENDED -FREE OVERNIGHT GUESTS -TENANT ESCORTS TO PROVIDE SAFETY
Prabha Patel, owner of the Delta Hotel , recently accepted a proposal from the Sixth Street Tenants Alliance to drastically change rules governing hotel visitors.
After adopting a model visitors policy at its Dec. 18 Convention, the Sixth Street Tenants Alliance has reached an agreement with Prabha Patel to Begin using much of the policy at the Delta Hotel. The agreement marks a dramatic change in visitors policies on Sixth St. and shows the success that has come from the Alliance organizing and empowerment of Sixth St. tenants.
The change in visitors rules at the Delta is a breakthrough for tenants, and the members of the Delta Hotel Tenants Association were overjoyed with the victory. The Alliance negotiating team included John Melone and Charles Harris from the Delta, John Eaton from the Baldwin House Hotel, and Lance Hunt from the Chronicle Hotel. The Alliance proposal was originally drafted at last December’s Sixth Street Tenants Convention.
By accepting the Alliance proposal, Prabha Patel showed tremendous respect for Delta and Sixth Street residents, and the Delta visitor system will soon be a model for the whole neighborhood. Currently, Delta volunteers are working hard to make the new system a success, and management has given them full support.
