Support Safe and Affordable Housing as a “Sacred Right”
September 22, 1999
Dear Colleague:
Enclosed please find a copy of the article, “Religious Leaders Call Housing a Sacred Right,” in the September 10 edition of The New York Times. It is a reminder that, despite the economic growth of our nation, we are still faced with shortages of safe and affordable housing.
Once again, I have introduced the Home Amendment (H.J. Res. 39), which proposes an amendment to the Constitution of the United States regarding the right to a home. I urge you to consider co-sponsoring this important legislation. Please contact Earl N. Smith III at X54365 to add your name as a co-sponsor.
Sincerely,
Charles B. Rangel
Member of Congress
