LOOPER RESIDENCE DEDICATION CEREMONY
LEROY LOOPER:
Looper is the single most important figure in preserving the Tenderloin’s residential character. He created the North of Market Planning Coalition and spearheaded the landmark 1985 neighborhood down zoning. He launched the Tenderloin Crime Abatement Committee and headed the Tenderloin Community Fund. Without Leroy’s strong encouragement the Tenderloin Housing Clinic might never have existed. For years Leroy and his wife have combined their Tenderloin work with advocating for increased funding for mental health issues.
