Judge Upholds S.F. Eviction Ban

A San Francisco judge is poised to overturn a 3-month-old city ordinance that makes it harder for property owners to take their buildings off the rental market. This would leave tenants more vulnerable to eviction.

Over 20 people are given eviction notices via the Ellis Act – Although the owner of the building just bought it, they are allowed to invoke the Ellis Act to “get out the rental business”.

SF Hotel Evictions Ruled Illegal

SF Superior Court Rules the Hotel Chronicle improperly tried to evict tenants. The 156 units will be preserved as a residential hotel instead of being turned into offices and tourist hotel rooms.
