2024 Recovery Rally and Summit

On Wednesday, April 24, 2024, members, advocates, and supporters of the recovery community came together to participate in a rally at City Hall followed by the annual Recovery Summit at the Main Branch SF Public Library. THC’s Director of Recovery Services, Richard Beal, kicked off the rally by introducing the event’s speakers which included Supervisors Stefani, Dorsey, Mandelman, and Safai as well as THC Executive Director Randy Shaw and recovery advocate Tom Wolf.

Rally speakers advocated for increased resources and action around establishing more recovery-based programs and housing in San Francisco. Rally attendees, including a large group from Salvation Army’s Harbor Light Center, marched to the SF Public Library to attend the Recovery Summit.

The Recovery Summit, featuring keynote speakers Kevin Sabet, PHD, and Bennie Lee as well as San Francisco Mayor London Breed and leadership from the San Francisco Adult Probation Department, continued to deliver the message that emphasizing recovery in our approach to housing and public health is critical in seeing lasting and positive change in those struggling with substance use disorder. Awards were presented to leaders within the recovery community, including THC’s own Director of Recovery Services, Richard Beal, who received the Shirley Lamar Award, and Associate Director of Support Services, Tyffani Castellanos, who received the Recovery Ambassador Award.
